The Y is made up of people of all ages and from every walk of life working side by side to strengthen communities. Together we work to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, age, cultural background, ethnicity, faith, gender, gender identity, ideology, income, national origin, race or sexual orientation has the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity. Our core values are caring, honesty, respect and responsibility – they guide everything we do.

Working directly with InclusionU and the Inclusive Recreation Resource Center at SUNY Cortland, the Cortland County Family YMCA is focused on improving facility accessibility to better engage the entire community through mission-driven programming.

How to Find Us

The Cortland YMCA is located at 22 Tompkins St in Cortland, NY. We’re just one block from Main Street, and a short drive from Homer, Dryden, Groton, and other nearby communities.

Public Transportation

The Cortland Transit bus system makes it easy to access the Cortland YMCA. The Route Four bus line, which leaves the County Office Building every 30 minutes, stops in front of the YMCA. For more information on the local bus system, or to plan out your route, visit the Cortland Transit website. All buses are equipped with a wheelchair lift.

Accessibility

The senior staff at the Cortland YMCA recently underwent Inclusion U training and evaluation by the IRRC through SUNY Cortland. In a move to create a more accessible Y, we’re concentrating on several key areas to create a Y that provides a welcoming and functional environment for the entire community.

View the Cortland YMCA’s Assessment in the IRRC’s Inclusion Rec Database for more information on our inclusion-readiness.

We’re continuing our move towards a more accessible YMCA. This includes a new ramp leading up to the main entrance, the creation of an accessible family restroom, and an updated lift for the pool.

For more information about our new improvements, or for assistance in meeting your individual needs, please contact our Inclusion Coordinator, Devon Darrow by email or by calling (607) 756-2893.
