For the health and safety of our members and staff, we have updated our lap swim policies. Please read through this FAQ before making your reservation.

What Do I Need to Know?

Everyone is required to wear a mask when they are inside the building. You may remove it right before you get in the water, and then put it back on as soon as you leave the water. As you enter the building, a staff member will take your temperature using a touch-free thermometer, and will ask you a series of questions as part of a required health screening.

Swimmers must reserve their swim times at least 24 hours in advance, for 50 minute increments (allowing time to clean and sanitize before the next swimmer comes in). Swimmers must leave the pool at the end of their scheduled 50 minutes.

Members can reserve up to THREE spaces per week, but only TWO spaces during the following high-demand time slots:

  • 5:30 AM Monday-Friday
  • 6:30 AM Monday-Friday
  • 7:30 AM Monday-Friday

Members may call in the morning to inquire about any open spaces for that day. These spaces will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Showers are available (one shower per locker room, and only one person is allowed in the shower area at a time), and members are responsible for cleaning the shower before and after use with the provided disinfectant and cleaning cloth. We will not have towels available for use. Please bring your own from home.

Is it the Same Schedule?

Due to limited staffing, we are currently working with a reduced swim schedule.

Who Can Swim?

Lap swim is reserved for Cortland County Family YMCA members ONLY. We are not allowing Nationwide Memberships or day passes at this time. All swimmers must be at least 16 years old or swimming with a parent. Each swimmer will need to reserve their own lane. Children under 16 will need to have a parent swimming in their lane with them (for a total of one parent and one child MAX). Two adults from the same household can swim in the same lane.

Do I Need to Reserve A Lane?

Yes. We are not allowing walk-up swimming at this time. If you do not have a reservation, you will not be able to swim. No exceptions.

How do I Make Reservations?

Call the front desk during business hours (5:30 AM-7 PM Monday through Friday, 8 AM-1 PM on Saturday) to make a reservation. Our number is (607) 756-2893. You must call at least 24 hours in advance to make a reservation. If you cannot keep your reservation, you must cancel with at least 24 hours of notice.

Can I Reserve a Lane for Open Swimming?

To maintain social distancing, we are only allowing lap swim (from one end of the pool to the other, and back). Open swim time is not available at this time.

What About Swim Lessons or Water Aerobics?

We are not able to offer swim lessons at this time.

We do have time blocked off for self-led water aerobics from 10 AM until 12 PM Monday through Friday. Like our other reservations, there are for 50 minute blocks of time, and are available only to our regular Water Aerobics attendees. During this time, swimmers will be able to use their lane to do their own water aerobics workouts. We hope to begin offering regular water aerobics classes in the near future.

Anyone who does not follow these guidelines will be asked to leave the Y immediately, and may forfeit their reserved swim times.
