Join the Cortland YMCA for our Second Virtual 5k!
The Mother’s Day Virtual 5k is completely free, and can be completed anywhere. Get 3.1 miles in on a treadmill or go for a run outside (observing social distancing rules). Hike along wooded trails, or go out for a family walk after dinner. It all counts!
(Of course, our actual Mother’s Day 5k is being rescheduled for later in the year, so if you’ve registered already, you’ll still get to run in that, too!)
Between May 9th and May 24th, complete your 5k using any route you choose, and then share a post-race selfie, and your time, on Instagram. Please tag @YMCACortland so we can see it. Alternatively, you can also post it to our Facebook page or message it to us through Facebook messenger. No registration needed. Just go out, get your miles in, and let us know!
Everyone who participates (and tags us on Instagram, so we can see) will get a small prize from our past-race inventory, available for pickup once we can re-open. And, for the first time, we’ll have a weekly leaderboard. Compete with other runners for the top place!
The Mother’s Day 5k, scheduled for May 9th, is postponed until later in the season. This virtual 5k is not an official part of our race series, but we didn’t want to leave our runners without a spring event. Even though we can’t race together, we’re looking forward to seeing your pictures, and many of our Y staff members will be posting their race selfies, too! Be sure to keep a look out for them on our Instagram and Facebook pages.
