Investing in Our Community

As a leading nonprofit in the Cortland County community for more than 150 years, the Cortland YMCA has a track record of community involvement, youth programming, and giving back. As a charity, we work every day to address community needs and ensure that all are welcome.

Our Causes:

Water Safety: As “America’s swim instructor,” the YMCA teaches children of all ages and from all backgrounds that water should be fun, not feared, if you know how to stay safe in and around water.

Community Wellness: With programs like Walk with Ease and Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring, we’re providing opportunities for members of our community to get healthier and achieve their overall wellness goals.

Membership for All: No one is turned away from a YMCA program or membership for an inability to pay full price. Thanks to the generosity of community members, we offer Membership for All, an income-based fee model available to anyone who qualifies.

Community Involvement: Working with other community businesses and organizations, we are an active part of the effort to create a better life for all of our neighbors, with events like the Community Baby Shower, the Run 4 All 5k and 1 Mile Walk, and having an ongoing role in the fight to end hunger in Cortland County.

Join Us in Giving Back

Each year the Cortland YMCA provides reduced-price memberships and programs to community members who would otherwise not be able to participate in transformational opportunities at the Y. We call this program “Membership for All” and it is an investment in our community that continues to lift up our neighbors. Membership for All means more families getting healthy together, children meeting new friends at summer camp, Stingers swimmers and Comets gymnasts competing to be their best, dancers building self-confidence, and students of karate focusing their energy in a positive way.

Your support allows us to do more. From great programs and events like Walk With Ease and the Community Baby Shower, to swim lessons to local youth, and ongoing partnerships with other local organizations.

The Cortland YMCA is changing lives, but we can’t do that without your help. Support the Cortland YMCA through a monetary gift, or share your time and expertise by volunteering for a program, joining a committee, or becoming a member of our Board of Directors.
